ABOUT

Mission:
Community enrichment through art.

Goals:
To establish a positive, inclusive, and cultural event for the city of Reading. To better serve local artists and performers. To provide networking opportunities that may not other wise be available. To increase “traffic” in downtown Reading. To stimulated economic growth with the city.

Event Outline:
First Friday will take place on the 1st Friday of every month. Unlike other first Fridays this event will be approximately 5 hours long (5PM – 10PM). It will also take place a centralized location, instead of various areas through out the city. We foresee First Friday growing beyond these limitations but wish to start on a smaller scale for now.

The event will feature local artist (and some not so local artists) who will be given the opportunity to display and sell their work. The event will also showcase local performers such as: Musicians, Bands, Poets, and Performance Artists. In addition to live music we’d like to offer live art. Meaning, we’d have artists paint or create their craft during the event.

A select few business and organizations will be invited to take part in the event as well. They may sell their product and distribute information to attendees as well. We would also like to give local restaurants, eateries, cafes, etc the opportunity to sell their goods. So food vendors would be on the premise.
